Music & Culture in Ireland
4 music & culture groups meeting regularly across 3 counties.
Before you go
A traditional session is not a performance. Musicians sit in a circle, usually in the corner of a pub, and play tunes they all know. There is no stage, no admission and no set list.
If you play, the etiquette is to listen for a while first, join in on tunes you know rather than starting your own, and follow whoever is leading. If you do not play, you are welcome to sit and listen, which is what most of the room is doing.
Sessions are listed by their regular night, but they depend on who turns up. A session with three regulars can be quiet in August and packed in October.
