This is the category for groups whose actual purpose is meeting people, rather than an activity that happens to be sociable. Coffee mornings, supper clubs, language exchanges and general social nights.

They tend to be the most welcoming to someone arriving on their own, because everybody there has done the same thing at some point. Language exchanges in particular are built around talking to strangers: you spend half the evening in your target language and half in your first.

Costs are whatever you eat and drink. Some supper clubs take a set contribution towards ingredients, which is usually stated up front.
