Westport Chess & Speedcubing Club
A highly active, multigenerational community chess and cubing club supported by local FRC. All skill levels and ages are welcome to drop in and play.
When and where
Westport Chess & Speedcubing Club meets every Saturday at 11:00 AM. It meets at The Quay School, The Quay, Westport, Mayo, Co. Mayo.
Times and venues do move, particularly at the start of a new season and around bank holidays, so it is worth confirming the next date with the group before travelling.
What to expect
Westport Chess & Speedcubing Club is a club night rather than a formal tournament, though many clubs run internal leagues alongside casual play. Expect a mix of rated players and complete beginners, with games at whatever time control the room agrees on.
Boards and clocks are usually provided. Playing strength varies a lot within a club night, so being new is not a barrier; someone will give you a game.
Bring nothing if you are just starting out. If you own something you would like played, bring it and say so.
Who it suits
Players of any strength, from people who know the moves to club-standard competitors.
